Fretboard IQ is an exploratory software
tool that a player can use to quickly generate both simple and complex
fretboard diagrams. You can use Fretboard IQ to learn, investigate and/or verify various
musical relationships at will and on demand quickly.
Check out these example screen shots. You
will need to expand the Interface 1 examples to get clear screenshots. On
Internet Explorer there's a little expansion graphic that will appear at the
bottom right of the diagram after a moment or two if you aren't sure what we
mean by expanding the diagrams.
Click on the back button on your browser to come back to this page when your
finished with each screenshot.
Interface 1 Examples - Interface 1 shows you the fretboard and the
selection tabs all on the same screen
-
Altered Over Dominant in A (Jazz)
-
A Harmonic Minor
Over G# Diminished (Yngwie Style)
Interface 2
Example - Interface 2 shows just the diagram and hides the selection
tabs from view for cleaner printing
-
Major Pentatonic
Over Minor Pentatonic In E (Blues, Southern Rock, Country)
You can work in
either interface. They both do the same exact things. We find that more
advanced players prefer to just see the resulting diagram while
beginners like to see the selection tabs as well. To each his own.
